- Summary: Solid case, almost too solid
- Comment: I've had this case for a couple of days, it's a very solid case. It's like a kevlar vest for your iPad. The old style kevlar, bulky and hefty.
If you're looking to keep your iPad safe - this is a great case. Definitely a case for the "throw it in your bag and go" crowd.
If you're looking to keep your iPad protected, but light and slim, you might want to consider a different case.
This case adds bulk and weight, but with it peace of mind. I use my iPad for all sorts of things, including reading books, this case will help strengthen your wrists. (c:
I had issues installing the plastic film screen protector bit, but I wasn't all that interested in it to begin with. I've never liked the screen protectors that came out for the iPhone. I had issues with tiny particles from the shipping materials getting between the screen and film and no matter how much I cleaned either I couldn't seem to get rid of them. My personal preference is to go without the film anyway. So it was no big deal. I just figured I'd give it a try.
The real negative is the cover over the data/charging port. Love that the port is covered and protected, but I have to agree with the other reviewers that complained about it. That thing is a PAIN to get off. Since the only way to charge and sync your iPad is the 30-pin connector the removable cover becomes an excerise in wills and patience. It has a soft foam rubber pad that presses against the back of the iPad. The rubber grips the case quite well and since you have to push the plastic piece against the iPad to release the plastic hook, you further compress the rubber pad and increase its gripping power against the back of the iPad. You end up working against yourself in trying to remove it. I hope Otterbox can come up with a redesign for the cover as it's my only real complaint.
Overall, if you're looking for extreme protection and don't mind the extra bulk - this is an awesome case. Just be advised of the data port cover panel not wanting to slide off, it does come off, it just takes some patience.
Great job, almost, Otterbox.

- Summary: Need more colors!!!
- Comment: This is my first time writing a review. This is by far the most protection balanced with ease of use you can get from a case. It's not a perfect case and some may say it's too heavy or it's not water proof but when the rubber meets the road this case will protect your precious iPad from everyday use. There also needs to be more colors to choose from, and maybe a better screen protector which comes in a seperate piece. I can replace it with something else later on if the screen protector gets too scratched up. Amazon has a great price on these cases and it's really small price to pay to get a little piece of mind for both my ipad and iPhone 4 defender cases. I also would recommend a combo pen/stylus made by box wave for drawing and writing on the iPad.

- Summary: Great box of otters
- Comment: I have owned an otter box defender case for my iPhone for over a year and would not go without. My iPad deserves the best and the otter box is the best. My three year old loves using the iPad to stream movies via netflix. Until it was incased in the otter box I was hesitant to allow her to use it. The current protection has given me piece of mind while my child watch episode after episode of Barney. Well worth the price and I would highly recommend it to anyone concerned with protection of your iPad. It does not look as good as some of the other cases that I have seen, but is more than made up for by it's durability.

- Summary: Super Case, crappy screen protector
- Comment: Otter Box has done it again! This is a great case for my iPad! It comes with a stand that doubles as a cover for the screen wen your not using it. It has the same great impact protection as their iPhone Defender series. I don't regret purchasing it at all.
That said, it is not as water resistant as the iPhone version. There are several places along the edges where water can easily enter the case and the screen protector is not attached to the case, instead they just include one with the case and you have to peel and stick.
The screen protector they provide is also not one I would choose. It is not anti glare, nor does it hide finger prints. This can be easily remedied by purchasing your own screen protector. There is nothing preventing the use of a screen protector not provided by Otter Box.
You also have to slide open a door at the bottom in order to plug in your iPad. This is inconvenient and allows for the possibility of loosing the door. It does, however allow you to plug it into the iPad docks.
Still the best case I have seen for the iPad. I highly recommend it.

- Summary: Super durable, a little heavy
- Comment: Pros
- very durable and protective. A hard cover covered by a thick rubber cover.
- all-in-one. The front cover can be snapped off then onto the back. The cover also has a built in stand.
- I feel very safe with this cover. Drop into any travel bag with confidence. Much more protective than the folios on the market.
- Port covers keep out dust. This includes a cover for the dock port. The removable dock cover is large enough to allow use of the Apple dock charging stand. I do wish it also had a small rubber dock cover for times I only want to expose enough of the port for a cable connection (it will accommodate a cable connection, but bares more iPad than I'd like. On the other hand vie had covers with openings that are too small, which is a bigger problem).
- comes with a protective film for the screen (in addition to the hard cover). The film is easier to apply than others vie tried. The protective film over the protective film protects the permanent film from scratches while using the sqeegy. It also comes with a screen cleaning cloth that I find works very well.
Cons
- heavy. This cover will increasse the weight of the iPad a lot. It feels more like a small laptop now. Bummer.
- the stand has two viewing angles. Many other sat ds provide a slight angle (10 degrees or so). Which is convenient for typing. This unit provides two viewing angles that are steep (about 50 and 70 degrees I would guess)
This cover is perfect for travelers who must go through airports and stow their device in a bag that may be bumped and jostled. It is a great choice for the clumsy too. While I'm not brave enou to risk my iPad, I think it would probably survive being dropped on the sidewalk. I would give much lower odds to other covers.
